2015 NLADA Annual Conference

Too often the fight for justice fails to recognize the real life consequences of the failure to invest in education, healthcare, neighborhoods, and opportunities for all people living in our communities. Policy analysts and decision makers fail to value all lives equally. This has led to the idea that some lives are more important than others. This session begins with the notion that “There Are No Throw Away People” and calls on us to acknowledge that “Our Lives Matter.” Our keynote speaker, Shawntelle Fisher, will speak to the role justice, community-building, and transformation play in recognizing the value of Our Lives.

Keynote Speaker:
Shawntelle L. Fisher is the founder and CEO of The SoulFisher Ministries whose mission is to respond to the needs of youth with incarcerated parents. The organization also works to provide quality education, job training/placement, and affordable housing to formerly incarcerated people and individuals with felony convictions. Currently a masters degree student at Washington University and Eden Theological Seminary, Shawntelle is a dynamic force for fostering the empowerment of youth and formerly incarcerated people.
